Our Migrant School Project team has planned various fundraising activities to raise money for our project. For the moment, we have set up four events at two schools (the European School of Brussels I and St. John's International School). We also sent out fundraising letters to friends and family asking for donations to our charity efforts.
EUROPEAN SCHOOL BRUSSELS - FRIED RICE, T-SHIRTS, BROWNIES, COFFEE/TEA & T-SHIRT SALE - see photos below:
Our main fundraiser was held at the European School of Brussels on Parent-Teacher night on December 6th 2011, where we sold Chinese Fried Rice, brownies & cakes, coffee and tea. We hosted this event during the European School's parent-teacher meetings. A lot of planning went into the event including group meetings and group brainstorming. Each member of the team prepared and donated food for the sale, and we even got Coffee Kimbo to donate the coffee beans. We raised a total of 572.98 EUR (532.98 EUR food/drink sales, and 40 EUR for t-shirt sales)
Our second bake sale was on December 13th during the school day. We generated 202.20 EUR.
BAKE SALES- St Johns International School - see photos below:
The first Bake Sale that our group organized was at St. John's International School. In total, this bake sale raised 104.5 EUR.
The second bake sale on Dec 7th raised 138 EUR (128 EUR for food and 10 EUR for t-shirts)

EUROPEAN SCHOOL FUNDRAISING EVENT
We set up the fundraising event in the Main Secondary School building (the Platon) of the European School to maximize sales for the evening.
This was a great experience in project management because we had to plan the event, organize the teams and implement our project successfully. In addition to the core Migrant School team, we recruited other friends to help us with our efforts that evening to pass out flyers explaining the background of our project, giving tasters of our freshly cooked fried rice to push our sales. We also went class-to-class selling brownies to teachers and parents. |
